Are you a Runner? Do you suffer from shin spints? Can Chiropractic help?

Shin spints is not so much a problem with the shin bone (tibia) itself, but a strain in the muscles overlaying the shin bone, such as the tibialis anterior muscle.  But importantly, what causes this muscle to get inflamed? Typically there is a problem along the entire lower body kinetic chain from the low back, hips, knee, ankle and the feet.  Think of it like a functioning unit where all parts must work smoothly together in tandem, or something starts to rub and wear and eventually squeak and break. The problem is not necessarily only where the pain is.  So, it must be determined where in this kinetic chain that the main fault exists, and then correct this in order to have the system work smoothly and pain free again. Simply put, think of a crank shaft on a push bike.  If the how back and pelvis are the sprocket, the thigh, knee and legs are the cranks, and the feet are the pedals.  If any one of these are bent out of alignment, the entire fluid motion of the bike and the ability to ride it efficiently and effectively is disrupted (if you have ever rode a bike with a loose or bent pedal as a child you will know what I mean!) Now take a close look at your feet (the pedals) – they will give good clues as to the functionality or disfunctionality of your entire lower kinetic chain.  Do your feet ever point out at 10 and 2 on the clock face? Or are they straight forward like railroad tracks? (functional) Do you see hammer toes, calluses, bunions?  These are signs of abnormal wear, much like driving a car with misaligned […]

Chiropractic – Why should I Return If Im Feeling Fine?

You entered Tuira Chiropractic feeling terrible and now your problems are a thing of the past.  You would probably be happy to return if your health deteriorates to the point where you have similar problems  But your chiropractor suggests you return even if you feel fine? Why you may ask?? Well the answer is simple (and you may have heard Ted tell you this).  You don’t only see a dentist if you have a hole in your tooth!  And if you do you know better!  Dentists recommend checkups and so do chiropractors. Why wait for something to go wrong before you attend to your health?  It may be too late if you wait for symptoms.  Chiropractors improve spinal health, in doing so they affect your nervous system and overall body health. A healthy spine can improve your life – see your chiropractor for periodic spinal checkups.

Chiropractic Treatment & Accidents and Injuries

Traumas Cause Subluxations Each trauma a person has could cause verebral subluxations – this is an area of abnormal stress in your spine that upsets body balance, impinges, stretches or compresses your nerves, and affects the health of your muscles, internal organs, discs, bones and brain.  A subluxation can cause pain, organ or system malfunction and disease. What is Chiropractic? Chiropractic is an holistic approach to healthcare, not just a cure for low back pain! The chiropractic profession has been around since 1895 Living with an Injury It is an unfortunate fact that over half of  victims of car accidents never fully recover under medical (including orthopedic) care.  There is still pain, disability and other constant reminders that they have been hurt and haven’t fully healed.  They need to know that in many cases chiropractic care may totally eliminate or greatly reduce their problems safely, quickly and without the need for drugs or surgery.

Chiropractic and Sports

Getting in shape should always include the ‘shaping’ of the spinal column by a good chiropractor. What your chiropractor does Your chiropractor balances your spinal column and relieves stress on your muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves.  If you play any sport you should receive a chiropractic spinal check-up to ensure that your spine is balanced and free from misaligned vertebrae. Chiropractic care may give you the winning edge, there are many professional athletes who wouldn’t dream of entering a competition without a chiropractic spinal checkup. Before surgery if at all posible, explore chiropractic and natural methods first. Evander Holyfield,  World Heavyweight Champion, reflects the attitude of many world famous athletes: “I found that going to a chiropractor helps my performance.  Once I drove 20 miles to see a chiropractor before a fight.  I have to have my adjustment before I go into the ring.” How About You? Want that winning edge? A little more balance? A little more lightness in your step? “Getting in shape” should always include a peroidic chiropractic “shaping up” of the spine.

Scoliosis and the Chiropractic Lifestyle

Scoliosis is a sideways curving of the spine that often gets started in childhood, when the bones of the spine are still growing. In many cases the exact cause of scoliosis is unknown. It is thought that scoliosis is the result of a hereditary problem or an adaption to some type of trauma, such a birth, injury or a fall. If left uncorrected, scoliosis can often worsen. Unfortunately the most common approach has been to wait and see how bad it gets, resorting to unsightly braces, or eventually surgery, if it progresses too far. The chiropractic approach is to use specific spinal adjustments, often combined with corrective exercises. If detected early enough chiropractic doctors have had excellent success with scoliosis cases. Early detection and chiropractic correction is important for optimum results. Do you know someone who could benefit from chiropractic treatment?
